K-12 Regionalization of Tri-Town Schools
In 2000 LWV-MMR undertook a study to learn what might be the educational, administrative and fiscal advantages of expanding the existing grade 7-12 Old Rochester Regional School District to include our three towns elementary schools. Based on the results of that study, in 2001 our League came to consensus in support of K-12 regionalization.
In 2010, encouraged by the availability of state grants to towns considering regionalization, the Old Rochester District formed a Regionalization Committee to consider whether to undertake the process of K-12 Regionalization. Discouraged by the perceived absence of significant financial advantage at that time, that Committee disbanded in February 2011. The League can continue to advocate for its position in favor of K-12 Regionalization.
